Education Services
Education is an integral part of the total treatment plan at Suncoast Behavioral Health Center. Students who meet admission criteria are immediately enrolled in the education program through a contract with the School District of Manatee County. Teachers are certified in their core content area and Exceptional Student Education (ESE) under the Florida Department of Education.
At Suncoast Behavioral Health Center, we also provide on-site academic instruction for our children with qualified, certified teachers. Educational assessments are conducted upon admission to tailor the material and teaching methods to each child’s specific needs. This educational experience is enhanced through a blended curriculum of direct instruction and computer-based curriculum. Report cards and transcripts with completed classes are provided to provide a straightforward transfer process to the child’s home school after treatment is complete.

Patients will maintain pre-admission course enrollments in honors and advanced core courses. If patients are below grade-level in basic skills, they receive remedial practice and one-on-one assistance with assignments to build reading and math abilities and gain academic confidence. Mental Health Technicians are present in the classroom to provide additional support, as needed.
