What is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?

Intensive Outpatient Treatment is a part-time day program in which patients attend treatment and therapy sessions for a few hours a day a few days a week. Designed to be the least structured and most free level of care but still offer the benefits of a structured treatment program, an IOP for mental health can make a big difference in a patient.

Like PHP, an IOP can be a step-down from a “higher” level of care such as residential treatment (or even PHP, in this case). It keeps patients in the Continuum of Care, increasing their likelihood of maintaining health, while also providing a strong support system for their new life in recovery.

Treatment at an IOP center can also be a key entry point for those patients who might be curious about treatment, new to seeking treatment or even have responsibilities that keep them from seeking longer-term treatment.

We Care About You

Treatment is not a one-size-fits-all process, and we take that into account when determining what level of care and treatment will be best for your child. Our initial assessment will determine the needs of your child and work to get the help needed for whatever issues your family may face.
