Outpatient Psychiatric Care

Suncoast Behavioral Health Center offers outpatient mental health programs for adults who struggle with a psychiatric or substance use issue but do not need the 24-hour care of an inpatient program. These programs help patients learn skills to improve daily life and functioning. They return home each evening so they can maintain important family and community relationships, an important part of the recovery process.

Our outpatient psychiatric treatment programs can serve as a standalone treatment option or a step-down from inpatient care. A confidential, no-cost assessment determines the program to which a patient is initially admitted as well as what their needs in the program will be.

Our Outpatient Programs

What is a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)?

Partial Hospitalization Treatment is a full-time day program that spans throughout the week in which patients attend treatment in the day and then return home at night. Featuring many of the same treatments as a residential stay, PHP is a great way to maintain familial and personal relationships while getting the help you need.

Featuring group and individual therapies as well as other treatment services, PHP is a great step-down from residential treatment as it helps a patient slowly adjust to a life in recovery without immediately removing the strong support system and structure of a residential or inpatient stay.

What is a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)?

PHP is also a potential starting point for patients who may have other responsibilities or obligations that prevent them from attending full-time treatment but still require the rigid structure provided by more formal, dull-day care.

What is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?

Intensive Outpatient Treatment is a part-time day program in which patients attend treatment and therapy sessions for a few hours a day a few days a week. Designed to be the least structured and most free level of care but still offer the benefits of a structured treatment program, an IOP for mental health can make a big difference in a patient.

Like PHP, an IOP can be a step-down from a “higher” level of care such as residential treatment (or even PHP, in this case). It keeps patients in the Continuum of Care, increasing their likelihood of maintaining health, while also providing a strong support system for their new life in recovery.

Treatment at an IOP center can also be a key entry point for those patients who might be curious about treatment, new to seeking treatment or even have responsibilities that keep them from seeking longer-term treatment.

We Care About You

Treatment is not a one-size-fits-all process, and we take that into account when determining what level of care and treatment will be best for you. Our initial assessment will determine your needs and work to get you the help you need for whatever issues you may face.
